Owner Teresa Nix has a long history in home care, starting her career as a Certified Nurses Aide in her great grandmother’s Ithaca geriatric home, and working her way up to managing Comfort Keepers Ithaca, eventually purchasing the company with her husband Jeff in August 2011 (Jeff left his 17-year career at Cornell Statler Hotel to join the business full time in January 2016). In addition to being a caregiver and general manager, Teresa has worked in the home care industry as Executive Director at Bridges Cornell Heights and in Human Resources for Classen Home Health. Through her many positions within the field, she has developed a strong understanding of in-home care as well as facility regulations and requirements.
Having worked with so many seniors and in various in-home care settings her whole life, Teresa has been able to take the best practices from each situation and apply them to Comfort Keepers Ithaca, making for a company grounded in experience, understanding, and strong values. The Ithaca office staff is now filled with individuals who, like Teresa, started as caregivers, creating an environment of experienced professionals who know what it takes to be a caregiver and how to provide clients with the right care for their unique situation and needs.
